Activism
During the 1980s I was involved with Amnesty International's work in defense of human rights, and during the 1990s I collaborated with organizations and political parties in Catalonia on issues related to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transsexual rights. However, in the last ten years or so my energies have been focused in the work in favour of the Catalan language.
In 1999 I helped found Veu Pròpia, an organization of new Catalan speakers for the Catalan language; it was legally constituted in 2002.
In 2007 the founders of Veu Pròpia considered that our task of building a discourse of the new speakers that helped legitimate the Catalan language from the standpoint of our experience and within the new social conditions of our country was best done within a larger and stronger organization. Our aim was to sum forces in order to work more effectively for our common language. Thus we joined the Plataforma per la Llengua, the key organization in the defense of Catalan, within which we created a New Catalan Speaker's Commission.
